The St Albans MP, Anne Main, has backed a funding initiative by Lloyds Banking Group which provides local good causes with grants of up to £3000. According to Lloyds, around 1,400 charitable programmes in 350 communities across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands are set to benefit from the Community Fund this year.
Anne said of the scheme, ‘I’ve put forward my own suggestions for this very worthwhile and meritorious initiative. We have lots of good causes and charities in St Albans that do remarkable work.’
The grants paid out by the Community Fund support projects and services that make a positive difference to local communities. Anne continued, ‘I encourage my constituents to nominate causes which they think are worthy of funding. It is important we get as many helpful suggestions submitted to the Community Fund programme as soon as possible as nominations close on the 30th April.
‘This is a fantastic funding initiative from which a worthy scheme will most definitely benefit. Although St Albans is a relatively affluent area, there are still people who depend on the services that charities and community groups provide, and extra funding for these will be of valuable financial assistance.’
